To reach any goal or destination you must know where your starting point is. All Fitness Rx clients must undergo several comprehensive wellness tests before they start a workout. We conduct a Lipid Profile to check glucose, total cholesterol and triglyceride levels. We then check BMI (body mass index) and body fat. We conduct a series of test to determine your current health and fitness levels. Our Fitness Evaluation will assess core strength, functional upper body strength, Bicep strength and lower back flexibility.
Fitness Rx uses two tests to determine your resting metabolic rate (RMR) and your cardiovascular output or VO2 max. The tests are instrumental in teaching us how many calories your body needs to reduce or maintain your current weight. The Cardiovascular assessments will help us identify your Anaerobic Base and your Anaerobic Threshold to find your optimal fat burning zones. In some cases clients actually have to slow down and work smarter and not harder. Our registered dietitians look at your metabolic profile and design a meal strategy that will lead to healthy eating habits.
Once testing is complete, clients will get their results and their customized health and wellness prescription in a Fitness Rx booklet. They will then meet with an expert who will explain the test results and how the plan will work for them. The prescription is written in such detail that our clients know how many days they should be exercising and for how long as well as what zones they should be working in for optimal fat burning.
Yes, your metabolism is unique to only you. It is the primary regulator of weight gain and weight loss. If by chance your resting metabolic rate (RMR) has been damaged because of yo-yo dieting, age or the loss of muscle, there’s good news you can retrain your RMR but you must know your current metabolic rate in order to change it! Fitness Rx can provide you with that critical piece you have been missing in your wellness plan. If we know where you are starting from, we can determine where you need to go to reach your health and wellness goals and we won’t ever play the guessing game
"If you focus on results, you will never change. If you focus on change, you will get results."

You don't have to lose a whole lot of weight to be healthier. If you lose only five to ten percent of your weight when you want to lose 20 to 30 percent or more, don't get discouraged. You still get health benefits from losing any amount of weight, including: lower blood pressure, lower triglyceride and cholesterol levels, lowered risk for osteoporosis and other joint problems, reduced sleep apnea symptoms and enhanced self image.
"Personal time with my trainer Erskine Kelley has been wonderful. I am stronger and my muscles more toned. I’m still working on my weight goals. The staff and program of Fitness Rx has been terrific and impressive in their professional skills."
